Virginia Crosbie is Director of Women2Win,[1][2] Vice Chair of Conservative Women in Parliament Group,[3] and Conservative Party Forum Champion for Social Mobility.[4]
Early life[edit]
Crosbie started her career in the pharmaceutical industry working at GlaxoWellcome, then joined UBS and HSBC as a healthcare financial analyst at director level.[5] She also worked as a dolphin trainer for Terry Nutkins (Animal Magic, BBC1).[6]
She attended Colchester County High School for Girls, followed by Queen Mary University of London, where she specialised in Microbiology. She also holds a Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Westminster, attended the Corporate Finance Programme at the London Business School and holds an Award in Education and Training from Kensington and Chelsea College.
Political career[edit]
Crosbie stood for election as the Conservative candidate in Rhondda in the 2017 general election.[7][8][9] She was not elected but achieved the greatest swing in Conservative votes in the country, an increase of 58%.[10][11]
In June 2017, she became director of Women2Win,[12] a group co-founded by Anne Jenkin and Theresa May[13] to get more Conservative women into Parliament. She spoke on behalf of the group at the 2018 Conservative Party Conference.[14] Crosbie was also part of the 2018 Tory 'Power Pose' phenomenon[15][16] and was a panellist at Women@TUoS.[17]
In November 2018, Crosbie started work as the Senior Researcher for Economic Empowerment for the MP Maria Miller.[18]
In January 2019, Virginia was elected Vice Chair of the Conservative Women in Parliament Group. She was also elected Deputy Chair Political for the Kensington, Chelsea & Fulham Conservative Association in 2017.[19][20]
Charity work[edit]
She is a development coach at Parent Gym, and volunteers on the NSPCC Events Committee[21] and the Rugby Portobello Trust Fundraising Committee.
Crosbie has organised entrepreneur events in North Kensington for Make It Your Business,[22] a nationwide initiative encouraging and supporting women to start their own businesses, and is the MIYB Champion for Kensington.[23] Coverage of these sessions has featured in Grenfell Support Newsletters.[24][25][26]
She was a governor at the Hammersmith Academy, and the Ark Brunel Primary Academy in North Kensington.[27]
