Gitcoin is a crypto crowdfunding platform that uses a philanthropic form of matching called quadratic matching[1].[2] Gitcoin is crypto's largest public goods funding organisation.[3] It is also a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation.[4]
Gitcoin was launched in 2017, it is founded by Kevin Owocki.[5] Developers can find and contribute to projects through Gitcoin[6][7]
Donations[edit]
In May 2021, Vitalik Buterin donated $441 million (price as of May 2021 time) of AKITA to Gitcoin.[8]
Controversies[edit]
In December 2021, Gitcoin marked the campaign for Iranian students as inactive in an abundance of caution to ensure compliance with U.S. law questioning the credibility of "decentralisation".[9]
