Giuseppe Di Caccamo Jr. (born May 25, 1972), professionally known as Giuseppe D., is an American multi-talented musician and music producer also known for remixing popular songs in both the American and Latin markets.

Early Life[edit]

Giuseppe D. was born in Weehawken, New Jersey, the son of Rubi (née Thache), a cosmetologist and former maternity nurse, and Giuseppe Di Caccamo Sr., an auto salesman, restauranteur and former architect. He is of Sicilian and Colombian descent. At the age of 3, it was at the urging of his mother that he would take up an instrument and learn music as a hobby, but it wasn't until his parents decided to move to Miami, Florida where his musical career truly began.

Early Career[edit]

While in high school in the late 1980's, Giuseppe was immersing himself within the dance music scene that was emerging from Miami at the time. Through mutual friends, Giuseppe began to work with Miami's "who's who" of dance royalty which led him to collaborate with freestyle music producer Tolga Katas. This led to the release of Giuseppe's first record titled "One Love" by freestyle recording artist Tony Marino (on Tolga's Futura International label). During this time, Giuseppe honed his skills interning in major studios and studying music in college, then decided, along with his parents, to move back North to pursue his musical career even further.

Career[edit]

Upon returning to the New York City area on Labor Day of 1991, he began immediately to network and collaborate with many musicians and industry people alike. This led to him producing such Billboard dance hits at "I Could Be This" by Androgeny feat. Michael M (Strictly Rhythm)[1] and "Descarga!" by LatinXpress[1], which caught the attention of music producer Tony Moran. Tony was so impressed with Giuseppe's work that he hired Giuseppe to be an in-house producer and programmer. It was that collaboration that led Giuseppe to work on many major label releases from such artists as The Real McCoy, Jon Secada, Cyndi Lauper, Luther Vandross, Gloria Estefan and Celine Dion.

Since working with Tony Moran, and other producers such as Jonathan Peters and Soul Solution, Giuseppe found himself as a self-contained music factory that has gained experience, if not success, in every aspect of music production. He started Hothead Productions and became an accomplished remixer working on hot chart-topping singles such as “Dark Beat” by Oscar G. & Ralph Falcon (Twisted)[2], “Give It Up” by Kevin Aviance (Emerge)[2], “They-Say Vision” by Res (MCA)[2][1], just to name a few. He also has a talent for Latin remixes working on top Latin artists such as Juanes, Luis Fonsi, Celia Cruz and Elvis Crespo, scoring with the worldwide hit “Suavamente” (on Sony Discos listed as "Hot Head Mix").

Giuseppe continues to develop many up-and-coming and established artists for many labels, including his own imprints Hothead Recordings and Monitor Sound Recordings, as well as consulting for other independent labels such as Robbins Entertainment, Radikal Records and many others. He has been nominated in the ‘Best Producer’ category at the 2003 International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) which takes place every year at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, as has received many RIAA-Certified Gold and Platinum awards further acknowledging his work and contribution to such hits.

Working with William Hung[edit]

In the Spring of 2004, Dee Sonaram from Koch Entertainment (a former colleague from Robbins) hired Giuseppe to produce American Idol reject-turned-superstar William Hung's debut album "Inspiration" which hit Number One on Billboard's Top Independent Album Chart and sold over 300,000 copies.[3] He also wound up producing his Christmas album, "Hung For The Holidays", and his final album, "Miracle".
