Gliese 611 (HD 144579) is a binary star located in the constellation Corona Borealis. It is the nearest star to Earth located in that constellation.
Star System[edit]
The star system has two component stars separated by 1020 A.Us. The system is approximately 8700 million years old, and does not contain any known planets.
Its closest stellar neighbours are the white dwarf Ross 640 at 5.82 light-years, Giclas 179-43 at 5.85 light-years, BD +41°2695 at 5.88 light-years and Chi Herculis at 5.95 light-years.
A component[edit]
The main component is a class G8V star located 13.91 (46.86 light years) from Earth with a temperature of 5300K and a mass of 0.84 solar masses. The star has an absolute magnitude of 5.87.
B component[edit]
The smaller component is a M4 class star. Located slightly closer, at 13.79 parsecs, it is only 0.365 times the mass of the Sun, and has an absolute magnitude of 13.44.
