Godwin Mitchual is the Co-founder of Unorthodox Media, the mother company of Unorthodox Reviews and UR-PR.[1] He is a Music journalist, Curator and Publicist[2] currently residing in Ghana, West Africa. He started his blog, Unorthodox Reviews (unorthodoxreviews.com) in 2016 after developing an interest in African Music specifically, Ghanaian. Godwin has written on and interviewed several major artists (alternative and mainstream) as well as rising acts in various scenes on the continent of Africa and beyond on platforms such as GQ [3] and Pan African Music.[4]

Life and Career[edit]

Godwin Mitchual attended Achimota School in Accra and became the Video Editor of his year Group's Entertainment Committee. After graduating from the University of Ghana, with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Godwin decided to pursue his dream of documenting Ghanaian and African music the best way he could. He had started a music blog with his friend and now business partner, Philip Edusei called Unorthodox Reviews.

Unorthodox Reviews[edit]

Unorthodox Reviews began as a small MP3 blog in 2014 called godwinmitchual.blogspot.com. In 2016, Godwin Mitchual teamed up with his partner and they coined the term Unorthodox Reviews. The online music magazine has steadily grown since then, with writers from all across Ghana and Africa.

The blog is known for its efforts to expose upcoming artistes, as seen in their weekly interview segment dubbed 10 Questions. Since its inception, they have interviewed and written feature articles on the likes of Herman Suede, Sarkodie, Burna Boy, Efya, Amaarae and Kwesi Arthur.

The Unorthodox Reviews staff includes writers from around the world. It also includes guest contributors like Music critics and Music Journalists.

Known as Africa's Best Music Reviews website, the main goal of the website is to bridge the musical gap between the mainstream and the not so mainstream.
