On November 4, 2014, the film was released on the official Rockstar Fan Films YouTube channel. Godzilla: Battle Royale was directed, produced, written, and edited by Billy DuBose. Billy DuBose said that it took 4 years to make the film. The film was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Godzilla franchise. At this time, the film has more than 2.3 million views.
