Gorgeous Radio is a not-for-profit LGBTQ+ radio station that broadcasts to the cities of Birmingham, Bradford, and Newcastle on DAB, and online through their website. The station broadcasts from its studios in central Wolverhampton, England. Gorgeous Radio aims to be a station for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community, focusing on the areas of Birmingham, the Black Country and Shropshire.[1]

It operates from a purpose-developed two-studio broadcast and production complex on the second floor of Skinner House.[2] Each studio has access to the station's digital editing and playout system PlayoutONE, along with facilities for live inserts, telephone interviews and IP Audio. The station transmits online, on the Gorgeous Radio app, via smart speaker, and on DAB to Birmingham, Bradford and Newcastle area.[3] The station also provides a 'listen again' facility via its own website.[4]

History

Gorgeous Radio first launched as Gorgeous FM on October 5th, 2020, as a local radio station, targeting the LGBTQ+ community in Birmingham, the Black Country and Shropshire, and was broadcast on DAB Digital Radio.[5] The first show was broadcast by former WCR FM presenter, James Levett, who presented the breakfast show on the station until August 2022. On September 27th, 2022, on the station’s first birthday, Gorgeous Radio broadcast across Ireland on DAB+.[6]

Presenters

Gorgeous Radio's presenters are volunteers and host a variety of mainstream and specialist shows.

The Gorgeous Radio Breakfast Show is hosted by former WCR FM presenter, James Levett. Other presenters include Heart FM's Craig Dane,[7] Adam Craig, Josh Keenan, Daz Stokes and Daniel Westwood.[8]
