The International Association of Trans Bodybuilders and Powerlifters[1] (IATBP), formerly known as The International Association of Trans Bodybuilders (IATB) is the leading authority in trans bodybuilding.

It is an organization created for bodybuilders and powerlifters who identify as Trans (belonging at any level of the Trans spectrum) as well as Non-Binary/Gender Non-conforming people.[2]

History[edit]

IATBP got its start in 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia under the name FTM Fitness World Bodybuilding Competition which was founded by Neo Sandja. In 2018, IATBP was separated from the FTM Fitness World which until then held the conference and competition. The 'P' for Powerlifters was added in 2019 to be more inclusive of the existing powerlifting needs[2]. The IATBP, as of 2019, is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization.

The IATBP holds Trans Bodybuilding and Powerlifting competition once a year in October except for the 2020 competition which was replaced by a virtual conference Inaugural Virtual Conference 2020: Voices in Trans Bodybuilding and Powerlifting due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3] Presenters included transgender bodybuilder and powerlifter Janae Marie Kroc, transgender activist Aydian Dowling, powerlifter and transgender activist JayCee Cooper, and 2019 IATBP Overall Winner, bodybuilder Damien “Phoenix” Montoya.[4] The IATBP competition has between 6 to 9 competitors every year.[5]

Bucky Motter is the current executive director.[6]
