Gotaga
Corentin Houssein, better known by his pseudonym Gotaga, is a French streamer and YouTuber specializing in video games and e-sports, born September 7, 1993, in Mantes-la-Jolie. He is also an internationally titled professional video game player. Currently in the French team Vitality, he is today the most successful French player on consoles.
Biography[edit]
Son of a computer scientist father and a stay-at-home mother, Corentin Houssein has always been surrounded by computers from a young age. He was offered an Xbox at the age of 8, which is how he discovered the world of video games, then later online teams. On August 31, 2008, he launched his YouTube channel.
Corentin Houssein follows a school course until the scientific terminal at the Lycée Vincent Van Gogh in Aubergenville which he gave up to pursue his passion for gaming to improve his skills and try to make a living from it. He was supported by his parents, although this choice was atypical.
It was on the Call of Duty series that he proved himself, won competitions, and earned his nickname "The French Monster" following epic action on Call of Duty.
A replacement player for Team Vitality (which he co-founded in 2013) on the video game Fortnite Battle Royale[1] and video maker on YouTube (mainly replays of his shows on Twitch), he has also been the manager since 2012 of his own company. Since 2017, he has surrounded himself with a group of people that he called The Gotaga Corp to manage his marketing, communication, etc.
He also owns a clothing brand, as well as a gaming house called the Scuf House, inaugurated with Prime at the end of 2018.[2] With his friend Doigby, Gotaga hosts a flagship show on Twitch that takes place on Monday evenings, the Masterkill, the streamers team saw a peak in viewership during this broadcast.
Gotaga says he appreciates ZeratoR, an other steamer, which is a source of inspiration for him.
On April 9, 2019, Gotaga won the global influencer tournament organized by ESPN on Twitter, bringing together 64 personalities from the esports world. After dethroning the American streamer Ninja, winner of the previous edition, he won the final against the Polish-Canadian streamer Shroud with 54% of the votes (out of 450,000 voters), thus becoming the first European to win this competition.[3]
On June 29, 2018, he organized an event, the Gotaga Show, at the Casino Barrière d'Enghien-les-Bains, rebroadcast live on his Twitch channel (which will bring together more than 243,000 people live on the Internet). During this event, he collected 32,420 euros for the benefit of three associations: Fondation Flavien, NaturalPad and APF France handicap.
On March 15, 2021, the OpenWorld program premiered, a talk show where Gotaga and Doigby invite several people from the gaming & streaming scene to freely discuss about various topics.
One of his younger brothers, Ronan, is also an important player in the French esports scene.
