Gravity Forms is a plugin for WordPress that allows users to create user input forms using a visual editor. Gravity Forms 1.0 was initially released on August 24th 2009 by Rocketgenius, Inc.[1].

Frustrated with the limited solutions available for visually creating forms in WordPress, co-founders Carl Hancock, Alex Cancado, and Kevin Flahaut decided that they needed to develop a solution that would allow their various web development clients to create and manage forms on their sites. Because of their frustration with existing solutions, Alex Cancado began writing the first iteration of Gravity Forms.

Gravity Forms was the first premium WordPress form builder and is often credited as being the first ever premium WordPress product.

As of July 2nd 2018, Gravity Forms powers forms on over 44% of websites in the United States[2] and over 38% of sites worldwide[3]
