Griffith's Adventure or Howards Luck is a historic home located in Jessup, Maryland in Howard County. The historic estate was a starting point for the Griffith family. The estate was first surveyed as "Howard's Luck" on April 23, 1723, by Thomas Larkin. The 801 acre site was later patented as "Worthington's Plains" in October 1725 by Orlando Griffith, son of a welschman who immigrated to the modern Fort Meade Area in 1675.[1][2] In 1728, Orlando was a member of Queen Caroline parish along with leading families of Captain John Howard and Nicholas Dorsey. The Hon Henry Griffith was raised on the site, becoming the organizer of Montgomery County, Maryland in 1777.[3][4] [5][6]
