Guru Hariharan is a US-based Indian-American inventor, author and entrepreneur. He is the founder of CommerceIQ and Boomerang Commerce.[1]

He is the author of News Mining Agent for Automated Stock Trading: System to Apply data mining techniques in real time to predict movement of stocks (2012).[2] Hariharan has 4 patents as of March 3, 2021 that are used in the field of digital retail and e-commerce.[3][4][5][6]

Early life and education[edit]

Hariharan did his Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Delhi Institute of Technology.[7] He subsequently moved to the United States to study at the University of Texas at Austin where he completed a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering.[7] He later received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania The Wharton School.[8][9][7]

Career[edit]

Hariharan started his career as an executive and veteran of Amazon and eBay.[10][11]

Boomerang Commerce[edit]

Hariharan founded Boomerang Commerce in 2012 while he was based in Mountain View, California.[12][13][14][11][15]

The company launched at the TechCrunch Disrupt Conference in New York City. He raised $20.5m from Shasta Ventures, Madrona Venture Group and Trinity Ventures.[10][11][16][17]

Hariharan's company Boomerang Commerce was notably acquired by the Fortune 50 Company Lowe's Companies, Inc.[18][10][19][20]

CommerceIQ[edit]

After the acquisition of Boomerang Commerce, one of their product lines, CommerceIQ became a separate entity of which Hariharan is now the CEO.[21][11]

His company, CommerceIQ, was named as one of Fast Company's Most Innovative companies.[22]

Hariharan is a frequent guest/contributor on media channels and properties like CNBC, Bloomberg and Forbes.[23][24][16]
