Guvvala Kennedy (November 22, 1963 – December 9, 2016) was an Indian freehand painter best known for his historical, mythological, architectural, and landscape works.

He was a celebrated and recognised artist in the southern part of India, and Kennedy was the founding member of the 'Creative Art World Association.'[1]

His paintings are narrative, and his most renowned works namely Shivoham (the 108 Paintings of Shiva), displayed at Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, Gulbarga Life Story of Sharana Basaveshwara and Life of Buddha (the Journey of Siddhartha Gautama).

Guvvala Kennedy published his cartoons idealising current situations in politics and controversies in various newspapers, including Eenadu, Sakshi, and Andhrajyothi, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Moreover, his works can be seen in many educational institutions and government offices, including universities and the State Secretariat

His art themes are diverse: Christianity, Mahabharata, Ramayan, Sir Arthur Cotton, landscapes, and portraits.

He is known for his exquisite use of colours and bold brushstrokes, which bring to life the various stories he is attempting to portray.

Kennedy has designed the elevations for Iskon Rajahmundry, Iskon Guntur, Iskon Anakapalli, and Iskon Tirupati.

Guvvala Kennedy studied at the Dhamerla Art School in Rajahmundry and later recreated Damerla Rama Rao's major oil paintings, such as Krishna Leela (1921), Milkmaids of Kathiawar (1923), and Nandi Puja of Kakatiyas, to demonstrate how the paintings would be in mint condition if well kept.[2]

He has designed logos for Sakshi, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), TV 5, Surya, Srikanya, Sandhya New Paper, and many more.

Through these efforts, Guvvala Kennedi has established himself as a renowned artist of our time.

Biography[edit]

Guvvala Kennedy was born on November 22, 1963, in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. His parents are Guvvala Krishna and Guvvala Narayanamma.

Guvvala Kennedy is named after John F. Kennedy, as he was born on the day as he was assassinated.

Kennedy started drawing at a very young age.

He started learning under the guidance of Sriman Maruganti Sitaramacharyulu at the Dhamerla Art School in Rajahmundry. Despite his young age, Guvvala Kennedy had already begun to make a name for himself as an artist by the time he was thirteen. He continued to hone his skills with the guidance of Achari Satyanarayana and soon became well-known in the local art circles as well as among the local people for his exceptional skill and talent, and by the age of sixteen, he had even won numerous awards for his work in art exhibitions At such a young age, Kennedy had already shown incredible promise in the world of art, and he was quickly becoming an established artist even in the early stages of his career Kennedy's dedication to his craft and his aptitude for learning were soon rewarded when he was invited to showcase his work at the prestigious All India Exhibition organised by the Lalit Kala Academy Despite the fact that he was much younger than most of the other artists at the exhibition, Kennedy's work was well-received and praised by critics, and he earned the distinction of having his work exhibited at such a renowned platform Kennedy's reputation as an extraordinary artist was solidified, and it only continued to rise from that point on.

Guvvala Kennedy then married Padma who is also a freehand artist and a fashion designer, starting new phase.

Guvvala Kennedy started with billboards, banners, and hoardings and entered the world of advertising. He made a name for himself by combining traditional techniques with innovative artistic elements and creating eye-catching visuals that captivated viewers Guvvala Kennedy's bold designs, fresh ideas, and creative approaches made him a sought-after figure in the advertising industry locally.

Later on, he was supported by Jakkampudi Ram Mohan Rao (the Congress party leader) for promotions and elections.

He later started with promotions of other political parties, namely the TDP, Prajarajyam, Loksatta, and more

He wanted to make the art accessible to anyone, regardless of their financial situation, from the start.

He started painting portraits, he was able to help people from all walks of life enjoy his art He soon became popular in political circles and earned a great reputation for his skill. His reputation grew, and with it, so did his clientele .

Years later, he sold approximately 5000 pieces of art all over the world.

In coming years, he started a institution by name Creative Art World Art school of Kennedy in Rajahmundry, creating over 1000 students teaching them his unique art skills.

He started studying about Shiva Purnana (the book of Lord Shiva), and he created a mind boggling collection of 108 paintings with his imagination after reading the text. These paintings are exhibited in various locations in India ( Delhi, Bangalore, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Gulbarga, and Rajahmundry ).These paintings later purchased by Sharana Bhasaveshara Temple in Kalburgi ( Gulbarga )

Later on he made the paintings by reading texts of Gautama Siddhartha and Sharana Basaveshwara and exhibiting these paintings in over 7 different states and 30 cities across india.

In December 2016, He died of cardiac arrest. His death was a loss for traditional art.[3]

His art Institution Creative Art World (Art School of Kennedy) is still creating hundreds of students every year, teaching is art skills taught by Guvvala Padma (Spouse).
