Jordan Cable (born 1986), better known by his stage name Guyokai, is an American music producer. He describes his music as a mixture between Trap music and pop.
Early life
Guyokai was born Jordan Cable. He attended Claymont High School in Uhrichsville, Ohio and later Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio for music production and performance. He began recording music at the age of 14 and learned to play the piano and the guitar.
Musical career
From 2002-2004, Jordan released various mixtapes and EPs on the DownloadPunk platform under the name Furik. In 2004, he released his first digital album SIB TS on DMusic to lukewarm reviews. His second album, AOI, was released in the summer of 2005 to a more positive reception. The album was released on SoundClick.
In the fall of 2005, he began working on his third album The Complex Life while attending Hocking College for music production and performance. The album was a drastic change in musical style compared to his previous offerings. He opted out of the techno sound for a more industrial rock sound. The album was eventually released in spring 2006 on Myspace which gained him a bigger following. At this time, Jordan was planning to end the Furik project to work on assisting other artists. He released his final EP, The Complex Life Pt. 2, in the summer of 2006.
In 2011, he announced that new Furik music would be released. A demo EP, titled FUR1K, was released in the fall on Beatport. It was followed by his fourth album, PRTY FVRS, in the summer of 2012. The EP and album were a return to his electronic and pop roots - leaving the industrial rock sound behind. The album was preceded by PRTY FVRS 2 later the same summer. In the summer of 2013, his sixth and final album, Galaxy, was released. All albums were released on ITunes and Google Play Music. Shortly after its release, Jordan announced he was retiring the Furik name.
From 2014-2018, Jordan worked under a few names: Net Slum, Yung Old and Cajole Brand. In 2018, he announced his first stable artist name: Guyokai. His first album, T R O L L, was released that same year. The album included re-recorded tracks from his past work under Yung Old and Cajole Brand. It was followed by a companion album, E Y E, which also included re-recordings along with new tracks. It was around this time that he signed with 2401702 Records for promotion and music distribution on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes.
In October 2020, he released his second album, 1996, consisting of brand new tracks. It was followed by a companion album, 1996 XP, in November.
In April 2021, Jordan released two more companion albums - F E V E R and CyberConnect.
Other ventures
In 2004, Jordan put together his own label titled GUI Records. The label distributed artists such as Vaughn Stull, Citrus Mood, Iromega Scandal and Razor Frank. In April of 2006, Jordan worked with American record label Punk As Fuck Records to help promote his label and bring in new artists. Under the newly-marketed label, he released music under the names Cadogan. He also signed artists such as Californian punk rock outfit T.R.S., Politikal Abuse and Psychopomps (band). In the summer 2007, Jordan brought the Canadian shoegaze rock unit The Waking Nuns to the label. In 2010, Jordan decided to dissolve the label.
