The Hong Kong Open Source Conference (a.k.a. HKOSCon) is a yearly international event at Hong Kong focused on free and open source software. It is the largest open source annual event in Hong Kong. The event has been held since 2013. It is organized by an organizing committee formed by open source enthusiasts from key open source communities and organisations in Hong Kong - Open Source Hong Kong, Hong Kong Creative Open Technology Association and Hong Kong Linux User Group.
The conference is targeting developers, open source user as well as IT managers in business and community sector. Participants come from various regions include Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Japan, India, France, United States, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Bulgaria, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel, Finland, Peru, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Russia. It is about half of conference speakers are visiting from overseas every years, attracting 50+ overseas speakers and visitors in 2015.
Speakers includes staff and community members of Mozilla, Red Hat, PostgreSQL, NewSQL, Oracle, Haxe around the world. Topics includes Linux, DevOps, cloud technology, internet of things [1][2][3]

In 2011, 10 open source professionals from Hong Kong attended one of the largest open source conference in Asia - COSCUP in Taipei, and then they and their friends continues to attend COSCUP every year. After hosting a successful GNOME.Asia Summit for The GNOME Project in 2012 in Hong Kong,[4] organisers started to organise first HKOSCon in 2013. HKOSCon is based on the conference model of COSCUP and FOSDEM.
Organisers are close relationship with other regional open source conferences, for an example, past conference chair of COSCUP visits and speaked about COSCUP at HKOSCon 2015.
