Hajera Mahtab (born: 22 September 1941) is a Bangladeshi professor and hormone specialist.[1][2] She is a member of the trustee board of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences.[3] She was also the director of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition.[4] In 1998, the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences honored her with a fellowship.[2]
Life
Mahtab was born in Kolkata during the undivided Bengal on 22 September 1941.[1]
Education
Mahtab passed the Senior Cambridge exam with first class in 1956. In 1958, she passed her secondary exam under University of Dhaka and in 1964, she completed her honors from University of Liverpool. Later, in 1965, she obtained her Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. In 1970, she received her FCPS in Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. She achieved her FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK.[2][1]
Career
During her career, Mahtab was an associate professor at the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital and from 1990 to 1998, she was a professor of medicine at Sir Salimullah Medical College.[2] She retired from her government job as a Professor at Mymensingh Medical College on 21 September 1998.[1][2]
