Abdul Hameed Fayaz (عبد الحمید فیاض, born 1956) is the former Ameer-e-Jamaat (Party chief) of the socio-religious party– Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JIJK).[1]

Fayaz was arrested in a crackdown on Jamaat and its cadre, immediately after the organisation's ban[2] by Indian Government in February 2019. Two FIRs were later filed against him, one charging him under the Public Safety Act (PSA).[3]

Views on Kashmir dispute[edit]

Dr Hameed Fayaz stated in many of organization's Salana Ijtima (Yearly congregations) that Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the democratic norms. He stated that this dispute should either be resolved by implementing UN resolution, which were passed in UN security council or the dialogue process should be initiated on the tri-partriate level, keeping the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir into consideration.
