Hamid Ibrahim, is a Ugandan-born United Kingdom-based animator. He has worked on several[1][2] Hollywood films such as The Predator (film), Disney's Dumbo (2019 film) and The Lion King (2019 film).[3] He is CEO of Kugali Media, an African entertainment company.[4]

Personal life

Hamid was born in July 1993 in Uganda.[5] He relocated to the United Kingdom in 2011 where he graduated with a Bachelor's in 3D Animation and Visual Effects from the University of Hertfordshire.[6][2]

Career

Upon graduation in 2017, Hamid worked at the Electric Theatre for a month before joining Moving Picture Company, where he worked on feature films such as the live-action remake of the Lion King (2019).[7][8]

Together with Ziki Nelson and Tolu Olowofoyeku, Hamid co-founded Kugali Media (a Pan-African entertainment company that tells stories inspired by African culture, using animations, comic books, art, and augmented reality) in 2017 before pursuing it full-time in 2018.[9][5][4][10] Kugali collaborated with Disney Animation to create an animation called Iwaju.
