Hamish Hossain
Hamish (Hém-Ish) Hossain (b. 1987) is an Indian composer of instrumental and electroacoustic music. He was born in Calcutta, West Bengal, into a multicultural family of Sikh, Jewish and Persian origins.[citation needed]
Background[edit]
Hamish Hossain received an Anglo-Indian education at St. James' School, Calcutta. While still living in Calcutta, he held various musical posts, including Teacher of Theory, Piano, Aural Skills and Piano Accompanist at the Calcutta School of Music (2005-2008); Music Director at Calcutta Girls' High School (2005-2007); Curriculum Music Teacher at Union Chapel School (2006-2007); solo pianist at the Oberoi Grand Hotel (2006-2010); and Peripatetic Singing Teacher at the Future Foundation School (2007-2008).
As a composer, he was largely self-taught at first, since composition lessons were not available in Calcutta. But in 2010, Hamish Hossain moved to Paris to study composition at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional.[1]
