Hampus Jakobsson is a Swedish entrepreneur and investor known for being a co-founder of The Astonishing Tribe (acquired by BlackBerry Limited in 2010). As of 2018 he had invested in over 80 companies.[1]
In 2018, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Malmö University for his contributions to the local startup scene as well as his strong support of research and curricula at the university.[1][2][3] In 2020 he won the title of "Investor of the Year" at the 2019 Global Startup Awards.[4] He commented in an interview that he didn't think much of it and expressed doubts that it was a fair evaluation due to the lack of clear criteria for the award.[5]
Since 2020 he has been focusing on climate focused startups through his VC fund "Pale Blue Dot", named after Carl Sagan's famous description of a 1990 picture of earth taken from space (see Pale Blue Dot).[6] In April 2021 they announced they'd raised a total of over $100 million from partners.[7]
He is the younger brother of Markus Jakobsson, a computer security researcher, and Andreas Jakobsson, a professor of mathematical statistics at Lund University.[8]
