HangFive
HangFive (from the Korean word for five primary elements used in the Four Pillars of Destiny) is the first social platform that combines Eastern Astrology and online dating. The app recommends friends, dates, or soulmates based on a match algorithm that incorporates astrological compatibility.
HangFive (Hang5) announced its official launch in January, 2021.[1][2] The mobile app is available both on iOS and Android devices. Users can register with a mobile phone number. Hang5 operates on a Freemium business model.

HangFive was founded by William Jinho Baek when he was at Columbia Business School. He won the 2019 Columbia Hackathon with a beta product called Chemistry at the time.[3] He began to further develop the product through the Columbia Startup Lab and the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center.
Features[edit]
- Fortune: Daily fortune recommends luck items (food, color, number) and short content similar to Co-Star's content. Yearly fortune is available for in-app purchase.
- Compatibility: The app provides free compatibility readings. Users are able can read about their compatibility with a friend by manually inputing their friend's date of birth. The app also features compatibility with celebrities.
- Match: The app recommends up to 12 users per day based on your preference and compatibility. Photos of other users are blurred and are only accessible once users are matched. Before sending a match request, users can read about their compatibility with the matched user.
- Chat: Once a user matches with another user, they're able to exchange messages on the app. The app provides short list of conversation starters, as well as GIFs to improve user experience.
