Career

Woolmer’s first professional performance as a soloist was in 2011 with The Cambridge Philharmonic Orchestra, Cambridge University. She made her first appearance at St. Bride's Church[4] [5] Chamber recitals in the same year. Over the course of her career she has performed at The Wales Millennium Centre [6], Bristol Cathedral, The O2, The Foundling Museum, Southwark Cathedral, Ely Cathedral, Sheffield Cathedral and Broomhill Music Festival.[7][8][9]

In 2011 she released an EP of ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams.[10][11]

In 2013 Woolmer set about creating her own orchestra. The Woolmer Philharmonic comprises high calibre professional musicians from around the globe and gave their inaugural concert on 20th February 2014, featuring Woolmer performing two concerti.[12] Since this time Woolmer has been awarded Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery and Big Lottery support for her work with the orchestra.[13][14][15]

In 2016 Woolmer produced a documentary about the musical heritage of small communities. The project was supported by Heritage Lottery. Woolmer has been an exponent of modern composers and lesser known composers such as, Nimrod Borenstein, Ian Deterling and Delius. In 2014 she premiered ‘Duet in F minor for Bass Trombone and Violin’ by Ian Deterling.[16]

In 2017 Woolmer released her first track from her 'Four Seasons' project. The project re-evaluates The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Woolmer released her first track 'L'inverno' on 1st December 2017 with each season to be released throughout 2018.

In 2018 Woolmer released her first composition for violin which gained over 2000 digital streams in the first two weeks of its release.[17]

Collaborations and Commissions

Woolmer is well known for her chamber duet with concert pianist Daniel Roberts (2012-2015). Their most notable output during this period included curating the recital series at Anteros Arts, Norwich, their Street piano Campaign (2015) which began in Sheffield. In 2015 Woolmer and Roberts collaborated on the album L’esprit Boheme, featuring Brahms Sonata no. 3 and Franck Sonata for Violin and Piano. [18] [19][20][21][22][23]

In 2016 Woolmer was commissioned by The Royal Opera House to develop an educational programme in partnership with them. The programme created was aimed at bringing high quality culture to primary school children of various backgrounds. [24][25]

Charitable Work

Woolmer has founded two non-profit organisations which support classical music activities. Her original non-profit, The Woolmer Music Group aims to promote classical music and raise awareness. The organisation runs various projects, from grassroots education and workshops through to funding and support for higher education students.[26]

The Woolmer Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Woolmer in 2013 its aims are to bring classical music to new audiences and areas with little access to culture, to support young soloists and conductors and to address orchestral musicians' pay. The Thurrock Instrument Amnesty was started in 2015 in Woolmer’s name. The amnesty collects unwanted instruments and redistributes them to children in the area of Thurrock. Woolmer performed an online charity concert in 2017, donating all profit to the repair of these instruments. [27][28]. The orchestra was awarded Arts Council funding in 2016. In 2017 they were awarded Heritage Lottery funding to record works by First World War Composers. [29]

Woolmer was targeted by Ukrainian activists via social media and was subsequently invited to debate the issue on BBC World Service.[30][31][32]

Hannah was stalked and harassed in 2016, which included her pet ducks being stabbed and voodoo symbols being left outside her house. This resulted in Woolmer being awarded a Non-Molestation Order.
