Haris Stamboulidis (born June 22, 1996) is an Australian football player, now signed as Defender for Langreo.[3][4][5] Recently playing the Federation Cup.[6] [7] His jersey number is 15. Aris Football Club (Greek: ΠΑΕ Άρης)[16] is a Greek football club based in the city of Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece, part of the multi-sports club A.C. Aris Thessaloniki. The club is commonly known in European competitions as Aris Thessaloniki FC. Aris is one of Greece's biggest clubs, having won the fourth most Super League titles.

Haris Stamboulidis grew up in Melbourne, Australia and attended Melbourne University, before being recruited by Columbia University, in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Ivy League in New York City.

Career[edit]

Early career[edit]

Haris captained the U13 and U14 Victorian State Teams, whilst earning a spot in the U13 Qantas Socceroo 30 man squad[17]. In 2007 Haris as vice captain won the Victorian State School Championship amongst a participation of 1,600 schools with Ivanhoe East Primary School. In 2013 as a 16 year old, Haris was part of the senior squad at Heidelberg United FC who won the Championship that year[18][19][20][21][22]. In 2014-2015 Haris was selected for the U19 Victorian State School Boys team and was selected for the U19 Australian National School Boys Soccer team which toured UK, Ireland, Scotland and Wales[23][24][25]. In 2014-2015 Haris was identified by A-League Melbourne City FC and was part of both their National Youth League Premiership team (NYL) and their senior National Premier Lead team (NPL)[26][27][28]. In 2015 Haris also was selected U19 Greek National Team by the Euro 2004 Championship Player Ioannis Goumas where he played 2 games against the U19 Ukraine National team in Tripoli Greece[29][30][31][32][33]. In 2015, Haris enrolled at Columbia University Ivy League Division, and played three seasons with the men's soccer team where he helped Columbia win their first Ivy League Championship since 1993.[34][35]

College career[edit]

Living in the heart of New York City, Haris spent 3.5 years at Columbia University where he consolidated 40 matches from 2015-2017, before signing with Greek Superleague Giants, Aris FC.[36] [37]

Colorado Rapids[edit]

In 2017, Haris joined the Colorado Rapids USL PDL team, or Colorado II where he spent two extended periods of time in Denver in 2017 and 2018. In 2017 he played practice matches against both senior nations teams of Trinidad and Tobago as well as the United States Men's National Team, before each teams respective World Cup qualifying matches. In between 2017 and 2018, Haris would return to his college in New York, at Columbia University to complete the football season and resume his studies.[38]

Aris FC[edit]

In July 2017, Stamboulidis signed a one year deal with Greek Superleague giants, Aris FC which is one of Greece's most decorated clubs, having represented Greece in Europe and has won the fourth most Superleague championships. [39]
