Harrison John Fuller (born October 1, 2002) is an American writer, director and film editor. He gained notoriety for his short film Sentiment, and his web series Icy Bois. His newer work is characterized by largely satirical tones and themes, unconventional cinematography, and use of lesser-known ensemble casts.

His narrative film career began in 2015, with the release of his short-film directorial debut, Ten Seconds. While of little notoriety or critical acclaim, the short won awards at local film festivals. He then made Sentiment, which was critically acclaimed at multiple domestic and international film festivals, such as the Catalina Film Festival,[1] the St. Albans Film Festival,[2] The All-American High School Film Festival,[3] and the Orlando Film Festival.[4]

Early life[edit]

Fuller was born on October 1, 2002, in Atlanta, GA, to parents John Fuller and Michelle Fuller. He is of English, Irish, and Czech descent. He attended Trinity school, and later Holy Innocents' Episcopal School for High School. He has one sister.

Career[edit]

Pre-2015[edit]

Before his narrative directorial debut, Ten Seconds, at the age of 11, Fuller co-hosted, co-produced, and edited an opinion-based informative web show, Pop Culture, which helped the Broadcast program at the school grow. Not much else is known about the show, other than it was a segment in a larger program at Trinity School in Atlanta, GA.

2015[edit]

In October 2015, Fuller began writing the script for Ten Seconds, a short narrative piece about a boy who aspires to run the 100-metre dash in 10 seconds. While the film only acquired a small amount of notoriety and acclaim, the spotlight was on Fuller's natural cinematographic abilities as a 13-year old. The short starred his classmates from middle school. Fuller also began posting videos on his personal youtube channel, harrythedirector. The videos he posted have been removed from the website since.[5]

2016[edit]

In 2016, Ten Seconds was premiered at the HIES Film Fest, under the Drop Shadow Pictures production company and was also shown at a local theatre in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He then started a Video Essay series on his YouTube channel, consisting of 6 episodes, all of which are now made private. He also started but never finished a series on his YouTube channel called Behind The Lens. It had only one episode, entitled "Behind the Lens: La La Land." During the winter of 2016, he traveled to Cuba to begin making a documentary, titled Cubae. The Documentary was scrapped after shooting.

2017[edit]

In February 2017, Fuller shot, edited, and directed an experimental short film, Cloudy Tuesday. It was a self-titled "reflection on cinematography", and the goal of the short was to demonstrate how versatile a piece of simple equipment like a cheap camera can be. The short was shot with no budget around Sandy Springs, Georgia. It featured just Fuller himself and used unconventional cinematography techniques and an Aestheticization of the passage of time. The short did not receive much critical acclaim, amassing only just under 1000 views on Vimeo.[6] Shortly after the release of Cloudy Tuesday, he took the footage from his scrapped documentary and turned it into a 4-minute long mini-doc he titled simply Cuba. In February 2017, he began pre-production on an upcoming dramatic short. He then finished and premiered the short, Sentiment, at the HIES Film Festival. Throughout the year, he was selected for and won awards at The Los Angeles Cine Fest,[7] The All-American High School Film Festival,[8] the Catalina Film Festival,[9] the Newark International Film Festival, the St. Albans Film Festival,[10] and more. In December 2017, Fuller began releasing episodes of Icy Bois, a semi-scripted web series about a church league basketball team. The entire cast of the show are classmates of Harrison. Most of season 1, with the exception of Episode 5, The Return of the King, were released in 2017. The show amassed a following of mostly Atlanta-based viewers but soon spread elsewhere.

2018[edit]

In early 2018, season 1 of Icy Bois was completed. It was largely believed this was the end of the series, despite mass support for the series to return. Later in April 2018, a short directed and co-edited by Fuller, Cut was released. Fuller was originally planned to write most of the script, but the script was completed with his "OK" by crew and cast members. The short premiered at Regal Perimeter Pointe Stadium 10 and was shown in the HIES Film Festival it was awarded Best Screenplay.[11]
