Early life and education

Hasna Cabral was born on February 10, 1989, in Cavite, Philippines.[3]

She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Mapúa University.

Pinoy Big Brother: Otso

Cabral entered PBB Otso as part of the fourth batch of adult housemates. During her time on the show, she became known for her resilience and dedication to her family. Her story moved many viewers and celebrities.

During her time on Pinoy Big Brother: Otso, Cabral's story as a single mother raising two children with special needs drew significant public attention. In June 2019, comedian and television host Vice Ganda personally entered the PBB Otso house to offer support to Cabral and her family.[1] Ganda brought gifts and assistance for her children, recognizing the challenges she faced and providing encouragement for her efforts as a parent.[4]

Career

Cabral first gained attention as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother: Otso in 2019. She was evicted on June 28, 2019, after receiving 6.46% of the public SMS votes.[5] She was nominated alongside five other housemates following a weekly task that involved building towers with stolen bricks, which resulted in all six being up for eviction. Despite her eviction, Cabral received ₱239,440 in earnings from the show’s weekly tasks, which she used to support her two children with special needs.[5]

Cabral then appeared in several television series, including A Family Affair, La Vida Lena, Viral Scandal, Kadenang Ginto, and A Soldier's Heart.[6]

She has also appeared in digital series such as:

  • Love Bites
  • Sleep With Me
  • Puregold Series: Ang Babae Sa Likod ng Face Mask
  • TVDG Stay at Home Series
  • Hoy, Love You (Season 2)
  • Hush (Season 2)

Media appearances

In March 2022, Cabral appeared on Toni Gonzaga's YouTube talk show, where she discussed her experiences as a single mother raising two children with autism. She candidly spoke about a particularly difficult period in her life, when she struggled with thoughts of ending her own life and that of her children. This heartfelt disclosure moved host Gonzaga to tears. Cabral explained that a message from her child's math notebook became a turning point, encouraging her to seek help and begin her journey toward recovery. She has since undergone counseling and continues to receive mental health support.[7][8]

In 2022, Cabral also took part in the ABS-CBN YouTube series Parent Experiment, alongside Nyoy Volante and Matt Evans. The show explored creative parenting techniques and offered practical advice for modern parents. Cabral’s participation emphasized her dedication to sharing her experiences as a single mother and advocating for effective parenting strategies.[9]

In 2019, Cabral appeared on the Tonight with Boy Abunda segment "Fast Talk," where she shared insights about her life, career, and aspirations for her children. The interview highlighted her determination to balance her family responsibilities with her professional ambitions.[10]

Outside of acting, Cabral is an entrepreneur and a student pilot.[2]

Personal life

Cabral has children, two of whom have autism. She has discussed the challenges of raising them, and has stated that they have been a source of strength in her life and have influenced her personal perspective.[11][12][13]

In a December 2021 interview with PEP, Cabral revealed that she had previously considered ending her life due to personal challenges, including a failed relationship, separation from her spouse, and her children's experiences with bullying. She stated that receiving a call from Pinoy Big Brother helped her regain hope and led to her participation in the show, where she became known as "Ukay Nanay ng Cavite."[14]

During her participation in Pinoy Big Brother: Otso, Cabral was involved in a task-related controversy where she and her groupmates took bricks from competitors to gain an advantage. She later addressed the issue on Tonight with Boy Abunda, explaining that she did not view it as stealing, and that she followed the guidance given by the show host.[15]
