Hatzalah Without Borders (Rescuers Without Borders, formerly Hatzalah Yehuda v’Shomron) is an Israeli volunteer organization of medics, paramedics and doctors committed to saving lives. The organization main goal is shortening the arrival time of the medical teams at the scene of an incident and thus saving lives. About 1,500 professional volunteers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and medics, are deployed in about 70 localities and are ready to provide first aid at any given moment.[1] The volunteers of Hatzalah Without Borders are equipped with the medical equipment and are able to arrive within minutes of receiving the call to the scene of an event, and provide the necessary medical assistance.
History[edit]
The organization was established under the name of "Hatzalah Yehuda v’Shomron" in October 2000, with the outbreak of the Second Intifada, as a small organization of residents of the Judea and Samaria Area whose goal was to establish a new medical system, which would provide immediate medical response to the victims of the terror.
The organization established an array of professional volunteers spread all over Judea and Samaria, equipped with advanced medical equipment and means of communication, available to assist the victims, and over the years, teams were also established within Israel.
In 2004, after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, the organization sent a delegation to Sri Lanka where they treated hundreds of victims.
Community involvement[edit]
The organization works in cooperation with Israel Defense Forces, Magen David Adom, security officers in localities and government agencies. In 2016, the organization released a mobile application for emergency alerts. The organization has a unique medical mobile simulation that simulates real events to improve the professionalism of the volunteers. The organization's volunteers take care of the injured and the sick in Israel and in 14 countries around the world. [2]
