Havok Mega
Havok Mega is an American DJ and record producer and is the founder of Savage Land Recordings, a multi-genre label which focuses heavily in the drum and bass and dubstep genres.
Music Career
1998-2014
Havok Mega has released music under a variety of alias names in multiple genres. During early performances, Havok Mega was known to wear a gas mask on stage and has stated that the purpose of this was to protect his identity.[1] In direct contradiction to this, Havok Mega posted a video to YouTube in 2017 where he is interviewing English record producer, DJ Skynet, and Havok Mega's face can be seen the entire time. Recent social media profile photos show him without the gas mask as well.[2][3]
In addition to DJing and music production, Havok Mega has also hosted music concert series under the brand names, "Focus"[4],"Art vs Jungle"[5] and "I Like it Dirty"[6] with business partner and creator of Drumz Clothing, Idris Morehouse AKA Spectr. The concert series booked acts under several breakbeat genres and also used Spectr's artwork as a main focus, with Spectr being listed in the artist roster alongside the musicians in flyers and printed media.
His first release "Shatter Glass" came out in 2014 under the name "neatfreq". Havok Mega formed neatfreq with DJ Lockjah for the purpose of releasing Electro House. neatfreq did not release anything else until 2019. They had another electro house single in 2020 before releasing a Drum and Bass single "Stellarum Fixarum" under their original DJ names. Another group "We The Few"[7] was formed in 2014 with collaborator MC Dre, winner of BBC 1Xtra's Best Breakthrough MC in 2007.[8]
2015-2018
There was a noticeable gap in content from this artist during these years for reasons unknown.
2019-present
A majority of material released by Havok Mega began to appear in 2019. Additionally, Havok Mega published a book titled "Neighborhood Watch" featuring pictures of graffiti found in the west coast of the United States.[9][10] His most recent song "Murda Situation" appears on Drum and Bass Nation but has not been released on any labels. According to play count, his most popular track is titled "Simplex" which has amassed over 30,000 plays since its release in January of 2021.[11][12]
