Career[edit]

MineCraft Awesome Parodys[edit]

Founded in 2016, this channel was based around the idea of taking popular songs and rewriting their lyrics to reflect the popular game Minecraft.[2] This channel grew incredibly popular throughout 2017 and 2018, having several parodies gaining over 1 million views.[3] His most successful video is "Mine Diamonds", a parody of "Take On Me" by A-ha, notching over 34 million views.[4] This channel was infamous for McNulty's relatively squeaky, pre-pubescent vocals. He has released two unofficial collections of his parodies; "Welcome To My Mine" and "What's Yours Is Mine".[5][6] Presently, this channel is inactive.

2019 & Modern Muskokan Poet[edit]

In early 2019, he recorded his first studio album "Modern Muskokan Poet", released March 24.[7] This was quite a change of style from earlier musical offerings. The album contains 10 original songs, which is a far leap from his earlier MineCraft Awesome Parodys project. The album has been met with generally mixed reviews, getting awarded with a 2.2/5 average rating on popular reviewing website "Rate Your Music".[8] This album is mostly notable for its title track, "The Queen Is Dead", "Honolulu Scented Hand Soap", and "Sick Drain Pipe".

In July of 2019, McNulty released an accompanying music video for "The Queen Is Dead" on his MineCraft Awesome Parodys channel, gaining over 240,000 views.[9]

2020s[edit]

On March 5 of 2020, he released two new songs, "Aries Tattoo" and "Headhunted (2018/06/08)", on his bandcamp, both of which would appear on his next album.[10]

Later that month, McNulty released his second full-length studio album, entitled "High School Film Festival".[11] The album suffered from poor popularity and no promotion from his MineCraft Awesome Parodys social media accounts. Although the album was met with poor commercial success, it achieved greater critical success, gaining a 3.4/5 average on "Rate Your Music".[12] The album is an extreme change of direction from the mostly acoustic style of his debut, containing alternative rock instrumentation and sound.

On May 5 the same year, he released "You Can't Save Them, They Have To Save Themselves", a 7-track EP of demos.[13] The release contained a cover of the Ivory Rasmus song, "Living In A Dream", as well as 3 rejected songs and earlier demo versions of "Sting/Stung", "The Cops", and "A Thief Encountering a Hazard", all of which appeared on his previous album.

McNulty released his first single entitled "Beach Cops" a month later in June. Though met with positive reaction, it continued McNulty's falling commercial success.[14]

On August 13, 2020, McNulty released another batch of demos in an EP entitled "Of Mania".[15] Recorded earlier that day, it contains 8 tracks, all ranging from 0:53 to 2:46 in runtime.[16]

In early 2021, "St. Charles Place", McNulty's third studio album, was released. It's notably shorter than his previous albums, clocking in at 26:19 and containing several sub 2:00 songs. The album was a success commercially, gaining over 125,000 views on YouTube.[17] Met with mixed critical reaction, the album's promotion slowed down quickly but remained more popular than his previous album. St. Charles Place is considered one of his most ambitious records in his discography and highlights a blend of styles from his previous two albums, Modern Muskokan Poet and High School Film Festival.[18]

Soon after its release, McNulty started a new Discord server, available to join from links on his Twitter account and YouTube channel.[19][20]
