Hayma Malini (born 10 March 1979) is an Indian television presenter and radio jockey who has worked in many different TV shows in India and Singapore. She is very well known for hosting television shows such as Airtel Super Singer 2 and Achamillai Achamillai. She is also the wife of actor and singer Yugendran.[1]
Personal life
Hayma was born and raised in Singapore and also holds Singaporean citizenship. However, she met her husband Yugendran at the launch of a Tamil radio station in Sri Lanka called Swarna Oli in 1999. The couple together have three children: Visashan Naarayan, Kishan Kutty Naarayan and Darshan Naarayan Nair. She, her husband and children had previously resided in India, Malaysia and Singapore. They currently reside in Auckland, New Zealand; she currently is a housewife and quit her media job. Hayma is also the daughter-in-law of popular singer Malaysia Vasudevan.[2][3]
Host
Hayma started out hosting singing competition programs on Star Vijay like Airtel Super Singer 2 in 2008, which she co-hosted with her husband Yugendran and Chinmayi, which turned out to be very successful. After Star Vijay, she travelled back to Singapore to host the talk show Achamillai Achamillai which telecast on Vasantham from 2017 to 2018.[4][5]
Controversy
Hayma also stated on her social media page that lyricist Vairamuthu sexually misbehaved with her. She later reported Vairamuthu to the Tamil Nadu state police, throwing accusations and lawsuits against him. She later created a campaign along with singer Chinmayi to send Vairamuthu to jail after his sexual act against many other women.[6][7] She also stated in another statement, confronting Vairamuthu with accusations of inappropriately touching 18-year-old girls.[8][9]
