Headrott is an American metal band formed in Quincy, Illinois in 2019 by lead vocalist and guitarist Ian McCune and guitarist Nathan Winkler. The band has had various lineups with McCune reclaiming the band mid 2020 with members of the band after Winkler departed.
History[edit]
Early Era (2019)[edit]
Headrott is an American heavy metal band from Quincy, Illinois. The band was formed in early 2019 by vocalist/guitarist Ian McCune and guitarist Nathan Winkler. The band also featured Claire Cox on bass, and two drummers by the names of Landon Nunn and Jacob Baldwin. The reasoning behind two drummers was deciding which one was to stay in the band. Ultimately Baldwin left only a few days after the band was formed and Nunn filled the spot. Winkler was ultimately voted out before McCune asked him to return as a member, this action caused Cox and Nunn to leave.
Ian switched to bass and two developed a double vocals style, as well as hiring on John Husar to play drums. This lineup lasted for about a month before Husar took a brief hiatus but soon after rejoined the group. But, not long after, Husar left the band once again to pursue other interest.
The band briefly worked with Baldwin again but was a short lived lineup.
The duo worked with another drummer in between the joining of rhythm guitarist Sylvia Gard but have not disclosed his identity.
Winkler and Gard Era (2019 - 2020)[edit]
Gard joined the band August 1st in 2019 on guitar. She played guitar for the group until a few days before their debut show in which she switched to drums for a few days (Oct 10 - Oct 12). They worked briefly with Nunn once again before she switched but he didn't remain until Sylvia took over. She promptly went back to guitar after their show.
In December 2019, McCune hired drummer Jesse Obriant, who remains as the longest running drummer of the band. Gard was also briefly removed from the band but soon returned. They played as a 4 piece until Winkler removed Jesse from the band, without knowledge from the rest of the band. This began to create a bigger riff that was already developing between McCune and Winkler, added was the fact that Gard and Winkler began dating.
McCune hired Lance Marler on bass and Thomas Clay Morris on drums just a week apart from each other mid 2020. This lineup last about a month before the 3 left, leaving Headrott as a duo for a month before Ian reclaimed the band.
