Herbert George Robinson
Herbert George Robinson DCM was a British soldier during World War I. He was a Bombardier in "B" Battery 271st Brigade Royal Field Artillery Egyptian Expeditionary Force. On 6 November 1917 during the Third Battle of Gaza in the area of Sheikh Hasan, east of Gaza, he maintained the communication wire to the forward positions whilst under artillery and machine gun fire. With only shell holes for protection continued the repair of the line throughout that day, enabling the breakthrough advance to continue.
For his actions on 14 December 1917 he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
