Biography[edit]

Herc is a musical project led by composer Iraklis Choraitis, inspired by the world of Tolkien. The band's journey began in 1998 with the power metal project "Arkenstone," co-founded by Iraklis and Nikos Spyridakis. While the project initially aimed to narrate Bilbo Baggins' adventures, it was shelved due to evolving musical styles.

Iraklis' passion for Tolkien persisted, leading to the birth of "Herc." The debut album, "Of Perilous Realms… and Other Tales" (2004), featured an acoustic journey through Tolkien and Poe's poems. Subsequent contributions to compilations solidified Herc's reputation as a musical storyteller.

In 2009, Iraklis revived Herc, leading to the release of "Towards the Mountains" in 2016, featuring contributions from friends. A hiatus followed, but during the 2020 pandemic, he embarked on a mythical journey into "The Silmarillion," crafting a new album with a narrative about Middle-Earth's First Age.

In 2022, Herc transformed from a solo project to a 2-member band with Panayotis Mavrakis joining as lead guitarist. Collaborations with Arno Menses led to the debut single "Melian" in 2023, heralding the release of "Of Light and Darkness," comprising 13 main tracks and bonus material.

Herc, now a dynamic musical duo, continues its creative journey, promising more music and adventures in the future. The Tolkien-inspired music of Herc captivates fans, making the band a compelling presence in the world of music.

The journey continues... Namárië!
