Here is an upcoming American film from director Robert Zemeckis, starring Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Paul Bettany, and Kelly Reilly. It is adapted by Eric Roth from a graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire.

Synopsis[edit]

A plot of land in New England, over time that turns from wilderness to become a house, and the people who pass through it over the centuries.[1]

Cast[edit]

Production[edit]

In February 2020 it was revealed Tom Hanks, Eric Roth and Robert Zemeckis were reuniting to work on the project Here, 39 years after working together on Forrest Gump. Richard McGuire’s 2014 graphic novel Here was to be adapted by Roth with Hanks starring and Zemeckis the director of the project with production from Playtone and ImageMovers.[2] In May 2022 it was announced that Sony Pictures had US rights with Miramax holding international rights.[3]

Casting[edit]

In May 2022, it was revealed that Forrest Gump alumni Robin Wright was joining Hanks and Zemeckis on the project.[4] In September 2022, it was announced that Paul Bettany had joined the cast,[5] and that Kelly Reilly was also joining the adaptation.[6][7]

Filming[edit]

Filming was scheduled to begin in October 31, 2022 in London, England.[8] In January 2023, it was revealed that Hanks and Wright were being be de-aged by hyperrealistic technology, including AI-generated face replacements, in order to tell the generation-spanning story. The production visual effects supervisor on the film, Kevin Baillie, was quoted as saying that the technology now means that “the actors can even use the technology as a ‘youth mirror’ – testing out acting choices for their younger selves in real-time.”[9]

Release[edit]

The film is scheduled for a 2024 release by Sony Pictures Entertainment.[10]
