"Heritage" is the second episode of The CW series Superman & Lois. The episode was written by Todd Helbing. It was first broadcast on March 2, 2021, on The CW and HBO Max. The show is a spin-off from Supergirl where many characters of Superman & Lois were introduced during it's second season. The episode revolves around Clark showing Jordan his Kryptonian heritage and training him in using his powers while Clark continues his fight against the mysterious Captain Luthor.

Plot[edit]

While Captain Luthor searches the globe for Kryptonite, Clark takes Jordan to the Fortress of Solitude to meet a virtual version of Jor-El, who helps him learn Krypton's history. Meanwhile, at Smallville High, Jonathan is relentlessly bullied by Sean and his friends on the school's football team. Lois questions Edge at a city council meeting about his plans for Smallville. Tests at the Fortress reveal that Jordan's powers are temperamental and extremely limited, disappointing Clark. The Kents attend a barbecue at the Cushings' home, where Lois argues with Kyle over Edge's proposal.

Luthor attacks General Lane at the Department of Defense and asks him to help destroy Superman before he can become a threat. General Lane reveals to Superman that he has been secretly stockpiling Kryptonite. After Edge turns her exposé on him into a puff piece, Lois quits the Daily Planet and joins the Smallville Gazette. At his base, Captain Luthor makes plans to build a new ship and armor while continuing to search for Kryptonite. A flashback to Luthor's world reveals that he is the last survivor of a military unit wiped out by an evil Superman.

Development[edit]

On October 28, 2019, it was announced that The Flash co-creators Todd Helbing, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter, and Geoff Johns would be developing a series based on Superman and Lois Lane for The CW and set in the Arrowverse, co-existing with the other series set in the franchise. It would follow the titular couple as they deal with all the stress, pressures, and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society. The couple have previously appeared in the Arrowverse series Supergirl, with Clark making his debut in the second season, and Lois making her debut in the 2018 Arrowverse crossover Elseworlds.[1]

The title of the episode was revealed on December 4, 2020 along with the first other four.[2] On February 11, 2021, it was announced on The Futon Critic that the writer and director of the episodes would be Todd Helbing and Lee Toland Krieger, respectively.[3] The second episode, "Heritage", first aired on The CW on March 2, 2021.[4] The episode also was released on streaming services such as HBO Max for world wide and Binge in Australia.[5]

Device, and more.
