Hey Dude is an Italian footwear company[1] established in 2008[2] by Alessandro and Dario in the city of Florence, Italy.[3] The concept of the company was to create and design shoes that looked like contemporary, modern shoes, while offering the comfort of slippers. The company currently has its headquarters in Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, California, United States.[4]
In 2019, the company launched a College Ambassador Programme focused on raising awareness of student debt.[5]
The company name Hey Dude is trademarked[6] with the company and trademark being owned by Full Fortune Brands Limited[7][8] which has its headquarters in Hong Kong.[9]
History
Created in 2008 by Alessandro and Dario in Italy, the creators sought to create a modern-looking shoe while offering the comfort of slippers. In 2009, Hey Dude opened its first store in the United States and established a presence in the American footwear market. In June 2010, the company had stockists worldwide and had expanded into Europe, Asia and South America.[10]
In 2011, Hey Dude sold over one million pairs of shoes worldwide, after just over 30 months of operation.[10]
Famed for their comfort and lightweight feel, Hey Dude shoes are recognized as one of the top 10 best-selling shoe purchases on the internet buying site Amazon.[11]
As of 2019, the company had sold over 10 million pairs worldwide and was stocked in 5,500 stores worldwide. In 2020, the company planned to expand its presence in the Asian footwear market.[12]
