Hily (hʌɪli:) is an American-based and internationally operating mobile dating application that uses artificial intelligence to pair its users. In addition to the United States, Hily is available in 15 countries including the UK.[1], Ireland [2], Australia [3], France, Germany [4] and Mexico [5].
Hily is free to use, however the app also has a subscription-based version Hily Elixir [6]. The app is compatible with IOS [7] and Android [8].

The app is owned by a Las Vegas-based company Hily Corp [9].
“Hily” is an acronym for "Hey, I like you".[10] Hily's co-founder is Alex Pasykov, who is the founder [11] of Taimi, a dating and social network for LGBTQI+ people.
At the beginning of 2019, Hily began its international rollout. In March 2019, the app was released in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand [12]. In July 2019, Hily added France [13] and Germany [14].
That same month Hily became the 3rd top-grossing dating app by revenue[15]
In September 2019, the app claimed 7 million users [16]. It's the same month the app entered Mexico [17], Brazil, Chile and Peru [18].
Matching[edit]
Hily uses artificial intelligence, namely machine learning [19], to match its users. The app's algorithm analyzes location, likes, previous matches and information in their profiles, to select compatible partners.
In August 2019, Hily also launched "Compatibility Check" feature [20]. Users can find out their compatibility quotient by answering 30 questions.
Safety[edit]
According to TechCrunch, suspicious users on Hily get a 'risk score' depending on complaints, passing verification and abnormal activity [21]. If the score reaches a certain number, the user is banned.
Controversy[edit]
In September 2019, Sarasota police found out that online predators utilised 21 dating and social media apps, including Hily, to connect with users who they thought were minors. So Sarasota County Sheriff's Office included Hily into the list called "21 Apps Parents Should Know About"[22]
