The Historia scholastica Journal is an expert peer-reviewed periodical that aims to publish original historical-pedagogical research and survey articles with topics from the history of pedagogical thinking and history of education. Articles analyse and reconstruct educational processes in historical perspective and major educational discourses, with a focus mainly on Central and Southeastern Europe. Historia scholastica publishes the contributions from Czech and foreign significant experts.[1] and accepts studies in Czech, Slovak, English, and German language. In all these languages is taken the double blind peer-review process, in which participate international scientific community.[2]

Historia scholastica Journal can be considered as a starting point, which fills a gap in historical-pedagogical and pedagogical research. The Journal helps to connect historical-pedagogical research of West Europe with and expert discussion in the Central and Southeastern Europe and supports an international cooperation and networking of experts.

The Journal is published by scientific and museum institution –  by the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius (NPML), which is administered by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), and Technical University of Liberec (TUL). It is led by editor-in-chief, associated professor Tomáš Kasper, Ph.D., and by deputy editor and director of NPML, Dr. Markéta Pánková. The progression of the Journal is supervised by international editorial board, which is represented by experts and professionals, and by the Scientific Board of the NPML.

Historia scholastica Journal follows the expertise volumes published in Czech language – Historia scholastica I. (2010) a Historia scholastica II. (2013). The Journal is published regularly in electronic (ISSN 2336-680X) and printed form (ISSN 1804-4913) twice per year since 2015[3] as an Open Access. One of the issues is usually published in the Czech or Slovak language; the other one is international, and includes articles both in English and German language.[4]

The Historia scholastica Journal is indexed Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory, EBSCO, ERIH PLUS (European Reference Index for the Humanities)[5] and DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)[6]
