Hitech Mobiles is an Indian Mobile Handset and Accessories Company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal.[1] The company was initially started with Mobile Battery and Charger. In the later stage, it entered into Mobile Handset business. In 2015, it started a mobile manufacturing plant in Howrah, West Bengal.[2]
History
Year 2007-08. The Telecom industry in India was slowly shifting towards lower tariff rates and greater coverage in the rural areas. At this juncture, the need for reliable yet affordable handsets was strongly felt.[3] This situation inspired the beginning of Hitech Cellphone Pvt. Ltd. With sleek looks and technology to match, Hitech Mobiles were the best value givers in the market. Within a very short span of time, it became very popular across Eastern India. The brand is today synonymous with affordable cutting-edge products. The market has recognised its effort of removing price barriers on handset categories. Hitech mobile is now one of the highest selling mobiles in the Eastern part of the country. After strengthening its footprint in the East, the brand has gradually increased its attention across the country through its 15 branch offices. Now the brand is also available in SAARC countries.[4]
Products
Hitech has a wide product portfolio that includes tablets, feature phones, and smartphones at multiple price points to suit all categories of consumers. Hitech markets its products under the Air & Amaze series of Android based smartphones, Youth series of Internet experience touch phones, Pride series of premium bar phones, and Xplay, Kick, Micra, and Yuva series of feature-rich budget phones. The brand has a flourishing mobile accessories business too.[5] Hitech is a strong Brand in East India in the affordable Micro SD Card, Battery & Charger segment. It also has a HI-PLUS range of premium smartphone accessories. The accessories portfolio also includes Power Banks, Bluetooths, Handsfree, Charger & Battery, Micro SD Cards USB etc., which are very popular in its own category.
Manufacturing
In line with the Government of India’s “Make in India” mission, the company has started its own manufacturing plant in the fringe of Kolkata, West Bengal, with a 72,000 sqft covered area. It is the first Greenfield integrated plant in east India which can produce batteries, chargers, earphones, etc.[6]
Endorsements
To take the brand to the next level, the company has signed a noted Bollywood film actor as a celebrity brand endorser. With the brand ambassador, the brand intends to connect with youth in a stronger way.[7]
