Homero Fonseca (born February 3, 1987 in Driscoll, Texas) is a Mexican American boxer in the Heavyweight division. He twice beat Raphael Butler in a National Golden Gloves Super Heavyweight Championship and is a highly touted heavyweight prospect.[1]
Pro career[edit]
In 2006 on a HBO boxing card with famous Mexican fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Jorge Arce, and James de La Rosa, Fonseca made his pro debut taking a first round T.K.O. victory over veteran Tim Harris.[2] On September 4, 2008 Fonseca bested prospect Raphael Butler in a four-round fight; two months later, Fonseca again defeated Butler, winning a six-round decision.[3] In a fight with prospect Lenroy Thomas, Fonseca lost a very controversial six-round decision.[4]
Personal life[edit]
Fonseca is a son of two Mexican Immigrants. His interest in boxing increased after winning backyard fights.[5]
