Hoppy.co.uk is a UK-based price comparison website founded in 2018.[1] that is part of EDF Energy[2]. The website provides comparison prices and details for home and car insurance[3], gas and electric utilities, broadband and digital TV, as well as a range of mobile phone and sim card deals, and local tradespeople.
Overview[edit]
Hoppy was founded by Richard Longmore[4] as part of EDF Energy’s innovation accelerator, Blue Lab, in Brighton in 2018. The website was created to allow consumers to manage digital services and utilities in their homes[5]
Services[edit]
Using the website, consumers can compare insurance and energy tariffs based on price and features, as well as broadband and digital TV services, mobile phone and mobile network operators[6]. Consumers can also compare and book local tradespeople through the website.
The website also offers ‘Home Management Services’[7], allowing consumers to store and share household documents with family members, as well as tracking household tasks in a calendar.
Business Model[edit]
Hoppy is a free comparison, switching and management service, helping consumers compare prices on energy, insurance and other products. There are no direct costs to consumers, instead, the company receives a commission from some suppliers when a customer chooses to switch to them.
