Houshmand Dehghan (Persian: هوشمند دهقان‎; also romanized as Hūshmand Dihqān[1]) (born 9 June 1969) is an Iranian translator. He was born in Kashan, Iran, and lives in Gorgan now.[2] He was arrested in 2012 in Golestan province(Gorgan) as a follower of the Baháʼí Faith[3] and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment.[4][5] He was arrested once again in 2017 [6] and was conditionally released from prison after having completed one third of his sentence.

Works[edit]

Dehghan began translating professionally in 2014, and translated several books from English into Persian. Dehghan published more than ten books, among these Persian translations of At the Existentialist Cafe: Freedom, Being, and Apricot Cocktails(در کافه اگزیستانسیالیستی) by Sarah Bakewell,[7] and "An unwanted guest"(مهمان ناخوانده) by Shari Lapena.[8]
