Howden AFC are based in East Riding of Yorkshire, England. They were formed in 2010 as part of a merger between Howden Town FC & Howden Amateurs. The club is currently playing in the Humber Premier League's Division One. A Reserve & Academy side play in the East Riding County League respectively.

History

Howden Amateurs finished 2nd in the ERCL Premier Division in the 08/09 season under then manager Jonny Dibnah. However, under financial struggles and rules, Howden Am's had to stay in the county league for the 09/10 season. Dibnah left and Howden finished off poorly. However, a merger allowed newly formed Howden AFC to enter the HPL Division One in 2010/11, with Sean Neal in charge. A Respectable 7th placed finish with 26 points showed the MinsterMen could compete with the better sides in the county.

However, a poor 2011/12 season saw Howden finish bottom of the league with a mere 9 points. Luckily the side managed to retain their position in the league. This was Keith Tinkler's first time in charge of the side.

Tinkler continued his role in charge of Howden AFC for the 2012/13 season, however the MinsterMen started off poorly. New Reserve team manager Dave Holt, previously of Gilberdyke Phoenix reserves, was handed first team duties on a temporary basis. Yet, although Howden showed spirit in games, they still failed to deliver and finished 15th. Again the club avoided relegation due to closure of league teams.

Holt was tasked with continuing his work with the MinsterMen and the side are now on course to record their most successful season to date.

Ground

Howden AFC play their games at Howden Secondary School on a temporary basis. The club are looking into options to create their own home within the Town.

Howden Reserves

Howden's Reserve side is currently playing in the ERCL Division 3. Veteran Manager Keith Tinkler is in his first season with the Reserves.

Howden AFC Academy

In the 2013/14 season Howden AFC announced their Academy side was to enter the ERCL Division 6, providing a stepping stone for the youth of the area to make the breakthrough into the Senior football side within the club. Sam Davies was installed as Academy Manager, previously having worked at Eastrington FC.
