Ubenathi Thomas Gwecka Mtyobo (legally Thomas Mtyobo) (born 12 April 2010), known professionally as Huey Evergreen, is a British MC, record producer, singer-songwriter, DJ and graphic designer. He started delving into music at the age of 5 with him making music on nTrack-Studio before transitioning to Bandlab and FL Studio, eventually meeting future friend and label owner Tyze Nitro and signing to his label Tixplosive*. After a hiatus in 2022, He released his album Bomb Disposal Unit Music in 2023 which allowed him to broaden his musical horizons and expand as not only a rapper, but a producer. He released Beware in the same week BDUM was released.
Huey is mostly well known for his album Huemeister which released in February of 2025 and Subliminals, his most recent effort that released on June 24th 2025 which some consider to be his best album yet and one of the best projects to come out of the Bandlab Bohemian Scene.
On 1st December 2025, Huey Evergreen released his highly anticipated mixtape Huemegamix2 to critical acclaim. It is his highest performing release garnaring 144 comments its album page on Bandlab and reaching 1,000 all-time streams on its first week on Spotify.
Early Life
Huey was born to both an immigrant mother and father from South Africa. His mother was a cook at a Activity Farm whilst his father was jumping from job to job. His father is the one who got him into rap music as his father had been playing said music whilst he was still in the womb which highly impacted his outlet of talents. In 2016, Huey was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD and he himself has speculated to potentially having Bipolar Disorder.
Not much i known regarding Huey's early life but he has mentions in his songs about his absent father. He has also stated that his earlier life was much of a blur and "confusing".
Career
2015-2017: Introduction to Hip-Hop
Huey originally started off as a fan of mainstream pop music, aspiring to be a popstar one day and becoming famous enough to support his whole family. However, this viewpoint quickly changed after his dad took him to a subway, after a day at the park, and introduced him to A Tribe Called Quest. This ignited a "spark" in him which changed his opinion on music drastically, becoming a mega fan of hip-hop and rap music altogether and gaining a dislike to pop music as a whole. This would play a part in Hueys decision to become a rap artist.
2019-2022: School, Meeting Tyze and Bandlab
In 2019, Huey began to make rounds around his primary school due to his knack for rapping, albeit, it was quite ametuer at the time. This is when he began to start taking music seriously under the name "Instant Prime" and began releasing music on Youtube around about 2019-2020 by using loops off of an unknown looper app. He began to use Bandlab at the introduction from a friend and posted a series of mixtapes under various names.
Huey was active under the name "Akira Tesla" from the years of 2020 till 2021 when he changed his name to Huey Polygon and released one mixtape under this name. In late 2021, He changed his name to Huey Evergreen and has kept it since. In that same year, Huey met Tyze Nitro at the Marlborough Science Academy and quickly became friends, sharing a unique brotherlike bond and sharing the same interest in music as one another. They eventually formed into the duo Aprils Abominations which eventually became 4Negative.
