Ricky Doherty (born 17 April 2010), known professionally as Tyze Nitro, is a British grime MC, record producer, singer-songwriter, DJ, drummer, graphic designer, video director and entrepreneur. He started venturing to music at the age of 7 with him making music on SoundCloud and founded his label, Tixplosive* until pausing for a hiatus in 2019. He came back in 2021 and released his second mixtape Defuse! in 2022 which gave him more of a platform but got more of that when he dropped his ninth mixtape, BL00DY OC10BER in 2024. He dropped his debut studio album, Nitro Euphoria* in 2025 which exposed him to some more appeal in the British and American deep underground scene.

Early Life

Doherty was born in Barnet, London to a Jamaican mother and a Irish dad. He spent a lot of his childhood in North London and some of it in Luton. He is the oldest of 2 siblings. His father wasn't there in his life much but did come back occasionally. He moved to foster care in 2019, which what extinguished his passion to make music, and hasn't seen his mother ever since, but still wishes to. His father died in 2020. Tyze hasn't said much about his childhood but has said that it wasn't a typical one, it was a rough one but managed to get round it.

Doherty had other aspirations while growing up in London. It was either football, join the Royal Air Force or the Army, or be a animator. He gave up football for lacking the ability, animator, because of how complicated it sounded and gave up his military dreams due to becoming a anarchist and never getting the chance or more time consider joining the cadets.

Career

2017-2024: Early work, hiatus and comeback

Doherty started making music on SoundCloud in 2017, at the age of 7. He started using GarageBand and was writing lyrics and performing them. He was inspired to make music because it was what he heard everyday. He dropped his first mixtape titled X+X: Xtreme + Xplosive somewhere around May 2018. He taught himself how to produce and work DAWs. In 2019, he moved in to foster care which is what did spoil his love for anything. He said he felt like quitting and focused on losing, never focusing on moving on. It took a while before he would get back to making music. In 2021, Doherty made a effort to go back to music. Later in that year, Doherty met British MC and record producer Huey Evergreen in 2021 in secondary school, this would form a bond of Huey's influence on Tyze to make more music. In 2022, He dropped his first mixtape in 3 years, Defuse! Doherty has stated he never looks back on his old stuff but keeps it for a laugh and to show history. He would go on to do more tapes as he finally got back to music. Tyze would drop his ninth mixtape, BL00DY OC10BER, a mixtape that recieve positive feedback. In late November 2024, Him and Huey Evergreen would get in to a beef with American rapper and singer RayyJayy, leading Tyze to drop his most popular song, N0 S3LF C0NTR0L. The three would later reconcile in January 2025, giving Tyze and Huey more recognition in the underground scene. Huey Evergreen and Tyze Nitro have hinted out a possible collab album releasing with multiple songs and have stated after 4 years in the making it may be coming soon.

2025-2026: Nitro Euphoria*, Tyze Nitro* and ZEUS NITROGREEN

Doherty announced 2 albums in January 2025 called The Warrior vs. His Demons. This record would be scrapped in favour for a new one. Tyze would announce a new project being released by April or May of that year. On his 15th birthday, he would share that he nearly finished with it and will drop soon. He appeared on "Marmaduke" with Huey Evergreen on his album, "Subliminals". He dropped the lead single "Quadrant" on July, 4th. His album "Nitro Euphoria*" dropped on July 12th. Tyze would feature on Lil Troll's album, LUV.WAV and on Boredom's Simulifeation and ATP DAY LYT's OUT OF DIS WORLD. He was a special guest on Huey Evergreen's one night only show as a special guest as a hypeman, DJ and MC. He would perform "Quadrant" and "Korvo's Pupa" and would freestyle over the B0MBZ EVERYWHERE beat from his ninth mixtape, BL00DY OC10BER. On September 26, 2025, at 6:35am, Doherty surprise dropped his sophomore and eponymous album. It would drop 2 months after Nitro Euphoria*. It was supported by one single, the first track, apocalypse in the north. The music video for it would drop later in the day. The next day, nitro euphoria* digipack's music video dropped. He would announce Tyze Nitro* would release on vinyl and CD in October of that year. On October 10th, 2025, Tyze Nitro and Huey Evergreen would announce that the 4Negative album has finished and drop "Blonde Black Friday Vinyl", the promo single. The lead single "Wasabi Hustle" would drop on the 14th of October with a music video dropping on October 26. The long awaited album, titled ZEUS NITROGREEN would drop on October 17th.

2026-present: The Teenage Maverick Tape

Doherty teased a project in November 2025, coming fresh of 2 albums and his album with Huey Evergreen as 4Negative. He would drop "Circus", a single with Huey Evergreen on April 3rd, 2026. A day later he announced that The Teenage Maverick Tape, would drop on April 17th, 2026, his 16th birthday. It would release to critical acclaim with Doherty experimenting predominantly with the jerk genre with elements of experimental rap, rage, grime and industrial rap.

Personal life

Beliefs

Doherty says he is a Christian anarchist. He has said lots about this in his music and genuinely. He was raised Christian by his mother and went to a Christian primary school. He has shared in April 2024 that he had "found more in faith for the first time in ages". While he said he hasn't attended church since 2019, he prays every day, sacrifices for Lent, reads the bible and most commonly wears a crucifix chain. He found the anarchist side in mid-2024.

Mental health

Doherty has said ever since he moved to foster care, his mental health decreased rapidly. Doherty has opened up about his suicidal ideation and his attempted a few times. In 2021, he had attended therapy and was stabilized. In 2024, Doherty opened up about his depression and social anxiety to the point he would barely attend school. In December 2024, Doherty would state he is now mentally stable. He has rapped about his trauma and mental instability in his songs and has said it his influenced him to be more of a story teller.

Doherty was diagnosed with ADHD in 2022. He has stated it effects his craft to be energetic.
