The Human Vaccines Project (HuVaP) is a New York City-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt US organisation. Its stated aims are to harness "the enormous potential of artificial intelligence" in order to "conquer one of the greatest remaining frontiers of human health—the immune system."[1][2] It is twinned with the Stichting Human Vaccines Project Europe, a Netherlands-based foundation funded by the European Union.[3]
History[edit]
The HuVap was strongly supported from its birth by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative.[4][5][6]
The HuVaP was projected as early as 2014, in a Nature paper by Wayne Koff, Ian Gust and Stanley Plotkin.[4][5]
In 2015, the HuVaP partnered with MedImmune, "the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca", to help accelerate research and development in infectious disease and oncology.[6]
In 2016, the HuVaP partnered with Pfizer to "decode the human immune system". They joined "an influential group of peers and research institutions like Regeneron, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi Pasteur and Janssen Pharmaceuticals.[7][8]
