Hunter Biden iCloud leak

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Hunter Biden iCloud leak supposedly occurred on July 8, 2022, when an anonymous 4chan user allegedly accessed and leaked around 450 gigabytes of data from Hunter Biden's iCloud account.[1][2]

The leak drew parallels to the Hunter Biden laptop controversy, due to the leak's ambiguous nature and its target.[1][3]

Incident[edit]

On July 8, 2022, an anonymous user on the pol imageboard claimed to have exfiltrated around 450 gigabytes of Hunter Biden's personal data from his iCloud account used on his iPhone and iPad, including voicemails, videos, and voice recordings.[3] Users on the imageboard immediately began to investigate the leak, with some alleging that the data included images of Biden using drugs and having sex. The post additionally included a list of passwords used by Biden.[3] 4chan moderators eventually took down the initial post, although the leak continued to be disseminated through torrent sites.[4]

Reactions[edit]

Government response[edit]

The Secret Service released a statement regarding the leak, affirming their awareness of the allegations.[5]

Social media corporations[edit]

The #HunterBiden hashtag began trending on Twitter following the alleged leak; the site did not comment on restricting links to the initial 4chan post detailing the leak.[6]

A notice was provided for searches relating to the alleged leak on Google, which was met with some criticism by conservatives, who claimed that Google was censoring search results for the leak.[6]

Other press outlets[edit]

Conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson, in response to the alleged leak, went on to praise 4chan on his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight.[7]
