The Hype Magazine is a United States based World News and Music magazine with a sub-focus in Hip Hop, Rap and RNB. Founded in 2002 by Jameelah Wilkerson and currently holding offices in Lawrenceville, Georgia - The Hype brand was developed initially from Urban culture. The Hype Magazine expanded its network to include television programming in 2019, distributed via ROKU and Universe Network Television,[1], streaming globally to approximately 120 million households.
The Hype Magazine began in 2002 originally as a one-page newsletter with a focus on entertainment, urban music, and current world news. The Editor-In-Chief, Jerry Doby has aided Wilkerson in the editorial progression of the magazine. The Hype’s mission initially served only notable current music news, progressing into LGBT rights, political trends and premiers through the late 2000s.[2][3]
