The International Court of Justice (Review & Reconsideration) Ordinance 2020 was passed in the Pakistani Parliament on May 19, 2020. The drafting of the ordinance was presented by Dr. Babur Awan, which was received by Cabinet on 15 May, then moved to Prime minister on 19 May before finally being signed into law. The government enacted the ordinance so that the country has only met its international obligations as "country will not live in an isolated place". The ordinance deals ICJ in relation to foreign citizen passes an order in respect of rights under Article 36^ of the Vienna Convention of Consular Relations of 24 April 1963 or a foreign national is aggrieved in respect of rights available under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention of Consular Relations of 24 April 1963. Its provisions shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any law for the time being in force, including the Pakistan Army Act 1952.[2][3][4]
