The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max are products in the iPhone line of smartphones made by Apple which are to be released sometime in September 2024. These phones are to be released with iOS 18, which is in the iOS line of software made by Apple.[1]
Design[edit]
Charging Port[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be expected to use USB-C for the second time since Apple transitions to USB-C technology for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. But one iPhone can have a portless design, having charging and data transfer can be done with MagSafe or similar technology.[1]
Display[edit]
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will come with larger screen sizes, 6.27" (15.9 cm) and 6.86" (17.4 cm), from 6.12" (15.5 cm) and 6.69" (17 cm), and they will feature a slightly taller aspect ratio, from 16.5:9 (11:6) to 16.6:9 (83:45).[2]
Under-display Face ID[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max might have an under-display Face ID technology, which is expected to introduce as soon as 2024, but it might not be available until 2025 with the iPhone 17 Pro.[3]
Solid-state buttons[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have a solid-state feature for all buttons, which will look similar to the iPhone 8, iPhone SE, and the trackpad on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. When a user presses a button, a haptic vibration is used to tell what button they've pressed.[1]

Specifications[edit]
Camera[edit]
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max would have a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, which allows improved images in low light. They will have the 48-megapixel camera on the wide lens, with four pixels combined together to create a super pixel for better image quality. The 48-megapixel wide-angle camera will also feature an eight-part hybrid lens, along with camera improvements. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max could get periscope telephoto lenses by 2024. The regular 16 Pro will also get a 5x optical zoom, used on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The whole iPhone 16 lineup is expected to have a stacked rear sensor design, which is first introduced on the iPhone 15 models.
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max would also feature a super telephoto periscope camera to get an increased optical zoom with a focal length of 300mm.[1]

As with the iPhone 14 lineup, prices have started at US$799. For iPhone 15 models, prices have to be higher. As with the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup, the prices have to be way higher.[2] Hypothetical prices for iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are listed below:

Chipset[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have its own 5G modem chip, which will debut in 2024 from the Qualcomm-based chips.[4][1] It would be the first iPhones to run on 128-bit CPU, featuring the Apple A18 Pro system on a chip (SoC).
Connectivity[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max could adopt WiFi 7 technology, which provides speeds of 3.0 gigabits per second, or maybe 40 Gb/s. Wifi 7 is also going to use 350 MHz channels with QAM technology, which is 2.4x faster than Wifi 6 with the same number of antennas. It will also provide faster transfer speeds, lower latency, and more reliably connectivity.[1]
Battery[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will feature a stacked battery technology, resulting in higher technology and longer lifespan.[1]
Cooling System[edit]
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will feature a vapor chamber cooling system technology to prevent iPhones from overheating quickly when it is in use. Initially, this would have been seen on the iPhone 14 Pro models as rumors showed before release on September 16, 2022.[5]
