Ibim Semenitari
Ibim Semenitari is a Nigerian investigative journalist, editor, activist, former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission and the first Nigerian female journalist to win the CNN African Journalist of the Year Award and also came second in print journalism in the 1997 CNN African Journalist Award for her reports in the Nigerian print media.[1] She is also a two-time winner of the Nigerian Media Merit Award. She is also a three-time winner of the Diamond Award for Media Excellence. She started her education at the St. Cyprians Primary School, Abuloma, River State before proceeding to the Federal Government Girl’s College, Port Harcourt.
She studied English and Literature from 1982 to 1989 at the University of Benin, Bendel State now Edo State.She served as the Commissioner of Information and Communications in River State under the administration of Governor Rotimi Amaechi[1]She is the publisher of Business Eye magazine which recently returned to the news stand.[2] Semenitari is the daughter of former Deputy Governor of River State, Gabriel Toby.[2]
